Sidney Kabotie
My name is Sidney Kabotie; I am a member of the Whistling Water Clan of the Apsaalooke peoples, a child of the Hopi Snow Clan and child of the Winter Clan of the Santa Clara Pueblo peoples.
I am a trained consensus builder, particularly focused on strategic planning with Tribal communities, leadership and stakeholders to help them formulate their responses to an array of priorities that are of concern to Native people locally, regionally and nationally. My facilitation and planning experience includes facilitating conference sessions with Native artists, community members, educators, political leaders and non-Native allies working to find ways to effectively address issues of invisibility that Indigenous Peoples experience in American consciousness, understanding and contexts in art, media, pop culture, governance, and education.
I received my Master’s degree in Diversity and Inclusion Leadership from Tufts University in May of 2021, which blended courses in Urban and Environmental Planning, Psychology, Education, Child Studies and Human Development, and Data Analysis. I also received my Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Fort Lewis College in 2018, with a particular focus in Socio-Cultural Anthropology.
My lens, life experience, and professional training have emerged from my journey to gain insight into the complex constellations of engagement within and between cultural groups. As I continue to understand myself as a multicultural person, I also grow my intentions of adding my energy to the efforts being made to heal our marginalized communities and build empowerment within ourselves and our relationships to one another.
