In June 2021, Alma completed the executive search for the next superintendent of Denver Public Schools. Denver Public Schools is the largest district in Colorado, serving approximately 90,000 students in over 200 schools. To support this effort, the Alma team facilitated comprehensive community engagement and input meetings with stakeholders alongside members of the DPS Board of Education to collaboratively define competencies and determine attributes of the new superintendent. Alma actively sourced for the position nationally and we designed each step in the interview process, to include opportunities for the community to meet and interact with finalist candidates.

The finalist candidates in this search included two men of color and one woman. The DPS search is a strong example of how we engaged a significant number of stakeholders to include students, families, teachers, school leaders, community members, district leaders, and others to inform the role description and the interview process from beginning to end. We maintained integrity in the process with flexibility to respond directly to the input we received from the field.
